Rachel is one such person. Yes, she is the Rachel of Rachel's World and of a large number of Yahoo! TG Cap groups.
It was her sites that brought me into capping, and I know of a lot of people who will be her eternally grateful for giving them a place to be themselves.
I am proud to say that Rachel has honored me with a cap of her own. (This is where any serious blonde starts giggling. Consider it done!)

this is really bad with taking the copyright off of the pics and then adding your own name. Tacky! your a thief.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up an interesting point. The fact is that captioning is one of the new "mashup" cultures that remix materials made by others. You will find something similar in the music arena.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at discussion forums like Rachel's Haven and Bimbo's cappers freely make use of images found elsewhere on the Net for non-commercial purposes.
I think the reason neither the adult industry nor the music industry is too concerned about this is that they reckon that this use generates a general interest in such material, and that that will lead to more sales in the long run. Given that all these sites and remixes are not for profit, they do not lose money anyway. i believe this is a sensible approach.
In the case of this blog I normally sign up for affiliate agreements with the companies and sites that provide the images. I can therefore use the images for "publicity purposes" and they get new customers. That's a win win situation clearly within the rules of the law.
When it comes to guest caps, however, and for a few of the humorous images I use for the minicaps, I often do not know who have taken the pics and cannot give credit where credit is due.
So here's a question to my other readers: What kind of policy would you recommend. Should I drop uncredited guest caps altogether?
In any case: Any photographer who find his or her image on this site and wants me to remove it, let me know and it will go down immediately.

One more thing: When Rachel or any other capper puts his or her name on a cap like this, they do not do it in order to make people believe that they took the photo. In the circles that regularly read caps it is given that noone take their own photos. The signature therefore signifies who has written the text and made the combination of image and storyline.
